Therapist Profile:

Anna Lacy

 SHE/HER

Psychotherapist in Training

Anna believes that a strong therapeutic alliance between therapist and client is the foundation upon which all successful counseling work must be done. As such, she takes a person-centered, humanistic approach where she works first and foremost to establish trust with and an understanding of each client.  She believes the client is the expert in their own life, has the capacity to define their own goals, and the ability to make significant strides towards meeting them.

Anna helps clients gain greater self-insight, productive coping techniques, and the ability to identify and change unhelpful patterns and relationship dynamics in their lives.  Anna is particularly interested in working with clients whose mental health struggles involve anxiety, OCD, postpartum depression, infertility, and ADHD. She is also available for couples counseling.

  • Anna received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cornell University. She is excited to be completing her internship at Be You Psychotherapy as she works towards her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling at Hunter College.

  • What is your favorite self-care tip/way to wrap up the end of a long day:

As a life-long New Yorker, Anna regularly takes long park walks as an antidote to the stressors of a busy day and urban life in general.

What song always lifts your mood?

A sports psychologist once told Anna he only surrounds himself with media that makes him feel the emotions he wants.

While he likes sad music, he never listens to it unless he is trying to evoke that feeling.

In line with this philosophy, Anna tries to be very conscious about what music, television and social media she consumes in an effort to support feelings of well being.

With that said, any Beyonce song is always a safe bet to get energized and think with a positive mindset.
